claims the soul
a pagan God, benign;
the sacrifice survives,
lives, listens, lives
perfuses
elevates
liberates
throbs the being
a gentle storm,
ship and sea
soar and crash as one
enervates
inebriates
exhilarates
numbs the mind
a pain-killing drug --
psychedelic realms
revisited repeatedly
soothes
stirs
salvages

Really like this thought,
"a gentle storm,
ship and sea
soar and crash as one"
A fresh way of looking at it!
a pain-killing drug --
psychedelic realms
revisited repeatedly....
rhythemic..
a gentle storm,
ship and sea
soar and crash as one
Anew and beautiful...
Loved the last three lines of each stanza. ^_^ Impressive word-choice.
p.s.
Been reading past posts (my first time here). Oh I am rendered breathless by the one entitled "Recounting Numbers." How achingly beautiful! Will drop by again for more poetry and prose. ^_^
Totally, totally agree. I'm fortunate to hear music from my cellphone radio everyday during my commute frm home and back. If it weren't for the fact that music can elevate you to another level during this mostly hellish journey, I'd rather walk the 8 km daily!
music never fails to inspire, isn't it... really liked your other posts as well. keep it coming.
